iON says “McLuhan enjoyed the Menippean satire when he was taking the phatic Mass” (the Mass was how McLuhan experienced “repelling magnetism” [“you’re pushed” like the particles in the solar wind]) (iON says it’s not a torsion field, it’s “money at a titty bar drawn into the G-string”) 5:55:15
McLuhan’s “put-on” took a magnetic approach to his Catholicism (he used the Mass as his “contrast” [“his magnetism”], he did not have/use a belief in the Mass) (iON says “that’s the only way you can get to transubstantiation”) (“similar to putting on ‘TIME’ as a self-probing art form in order to remain imaginative/detached”) (iON then says “'TIME’ is not on your side”) 5:57:37

Post subject: Re: Notes from Recent Conversations with "McLuhan" Reply with quote

Someone wrote elsewhere:

[[ Bob, these are superbly detailed and invaluable "meeting minutes".

These conversations, along with the rest of iONdom, will go down
as some of the greatest exchanges ever recorded.

What has come out of this situation, in just a short spans, has
already trumped anything that ever was.

And this train's just left the station.

Much gratitude for creating these. They're enlightening and a
pleasure to read.

Some interesting points:

1) iON points out how Bob forgets and remembers every day 4:13:43

This is, as I see it, an ascended dynamic, as it allows for a
more complete experience of / engagement with one's
experiences without the burden, or adulteration of preconceptions,
or projections onto those experiences, all while allowing knowing to
then arise, or not, on its own.

Memorizing, or memory implies a sort of recording, and that's past. It
doesn't apply.

iON said that it makes one's experience, "Fresh and new". Bob says,
"And we wish the same for you", which iON echoes. Indeed.

Also, iON has said, you don't need to re-member something if it was
already membered (known). You know it.

A creator God has all knowing. But, as demonstrated by Bob, that
knowing will arise on its own versus everything arising all at once,
as one might expect with omniscience.

2) iON, “a creator creates ‘cause’” 5:01:58

As an effect of the printed word, we overlayed the linear sequence
of cause and effect, when both exist simultaneously.

In the beginning (of iONdom), we moved from causes actually
preceding effects, to cause and effect happening simultaneously, to
where we are now, which preceded any notion of cause and effect: isness.

This next one's hilarious. iON's sense of humor...

3) (iON knows Bob doesn’t know Bob has his phone on “mute” but
calls Bob in anyway) 4:24:46

4) iON defines “vengeance as power, not authority” (using Pres.
Bush 2, Dick Cheney, and Jesus as examples of powerful “vengeance”)
4:36:02

This is a good point.

Vengeance doesn't come out of authority. It's someone taking their
power and using it (although, it's not limited to our strict, or limited
notion of how vengeance may played out).

5) iON tells Chad “not to bring in ‘probabilities’ to the ‘isnesses’ and
‘arenesses’” 4:11:05

This one may seem cryptic, but it was spelled out quite plainly by
iON.

Probability implies a God, who is subject to luck, or "fate".

In the isness and areness business, in one's power, there are no
probabilities - the creator God knows / creates the outcome, plain
and simple.

And a quick explanation of isness and areness.

Everything already is.

However, as I recall, "isness" refers to everything that exists in one's
mind, or Outer Kingdom realm, and "areness" is having those creations
in one's Middle Kingdom / immediate experience; to become one's,
possessed, manifested creation.

6) iON says McLuhan “only used the six degrees of separation [who,
what, where, when, why, and how?] fluidly to put it back on you”
(as a mirror) 5:48:49

What iON says in response to Scott's question, which includes at least
two Degrees of Separation, about "how", or "where" the Degrees of Separation
come into play with regard to degrees / angles, is something I don't recall
hearing before.

iON says (re: the Six Degrees of Separation) are those degrees that, "leave
you in a tangent that can't be achieved."

It's another way of saying, "rabbit hole". Those questions go on eternally,
and cannot be "achieved"; completed.

7) iON relates the axes to McLuhan’s “cliché/archetype” and Chad
responds with “sine/cosine and the circle” 4:08:50

I want to share a little more on this, as it is a central theme, in particular,
as regards Bob's charts; especially, the fabled, "Tiny Note Chart".

The "cliche to archetype" pattern, or model originated with Marshal McLuhan
in a book entitled, "From Cliché to Archetype" (http://goo.gl/kgNNZ).

The following is from the Wikipedia entry for McLuhan's, "From Cliche to
Archetype" (I like that McLuhan collaborated with Canadian poet Wilfred
Watson for this book, which I thought was significant; McLuhan engaging
in "art"),

Quote:
...

In McLuhan's terms, a cliché is a "normal" action, phrase, etc. which
becomes so often used that we are "anesthetized" to its effects.

...

McLuhan's archetype "is a quoted extension, medium, technology or
environment." "Environment" would also include the kinds of "awareness"
and cognitive shifts brought upon people by it...

McLuhan also posits that there is a factor of interplay between the cliché
and the archetype, or a "doubleness":

Another theme of the Wake [Finnegans Wake] that helps in the understanding
of the paradoxical shift from cliché to archetype is 'past time are pastimes.'

The dominant technologies of one age become the games and pastimes of
a later age. In the 20th century, the number of 'past times' that are
simultaneously available is so vast as to create cultural anarchy.

When all the cultures of the world are simultaneously present, the work of
the artist in the elucidation of form takes on new scope and new urgency.
Most men are pushed into the artist's role.

The artist cannot dispense with the principle of 'doubleness' or 'interplay'
because this type of hendiadys dialogue is essential to the very structure of
consciousness, awareness, and autonomy.[2]

...

McLuhan relates the cliché-to-archetype process to the Theater of the Absurd:

Pascal, in the seventeenth century, tells us that the heart has many reasons
of which the head knows nothing. The Theater of the Absurd is essentially a
communicating to the head of some of the silent languages of the heart
which in two or three hundred years it has tried to forget all about.

In the seventeenth century world the languages of the heart were pushed down
into the unconscious by the dominant print cliché.[3]

The “languages of the heart,” or what McLuhan would otherwise define as oral
culture, were thus made archetype by means of the printing press, and turned
into cliché.

The satellite medium, McLuhan states, encloses the Earth in a man-made
environment, which "ends 'Nature' and turns the globe into a repertory theater
to be programmed."[4] All previous environments (book, newspaper, radio, etc.)
and their artifacts are retrieved under these conditions ("past times are pastimes").

An aside, the security text I needed to type for the above Goo.gl link
shortener was, "ATSNEXT THROW". I also go by the screen name, atsdeck.

Thought that was funny.

I would suggest being aware of the security text you enter every now
and again.

You're bound to see a message there.

Here are some excerpts from the summary of McLuhan's book at Amazon.com,

Quote:
...

In the age of electronic retrieval, the entire phenomenal universe is at once
junkyard and museum...

Every culture now rides on the back of every other culture.

In these pages, readers learn how to look at stale clichés with fresh eyes, as
artists do, and discover that clichés provide the key to understanding Modernism,
from the puns of James Joyce to Ionesco's Theater of the Absurd.

...

Discussion ranges over conventional topics of literary analysis such as genres,
esthetics, rhetoric, paradox, mimesis [Bart: miming; imitation], and parody,
though never in conventional fashion, because McLuhan deliberately stakes his
turf in a manner that draws technology and culture together. As a result, the
key terms cliché and archetype are not confined to language but are shown to
have counterparts in the non-linguistic world.

The present work reprises themes from  Understanding Media, such as old media
becoming the content of new media, and identifies for the first time the typical
effect of a new technology retrieving an older form of technology.

Now, from Bob's diary entries,

Quote:
July 21/62(Toronto)

As Bob and Marshall left the church, Bob couldn't hold back the question
he'd kept to himself for the last couple of years.

Dobbs: Mac, why do you go to Mass every day?

McLuhan: The Mass is the secret behind everything I write about. The stages
of apprehension which are replayed in the artistic, creative process are also
echoed in the Eucharist. These stages of apprehension are again mimed in the
rituals of the collective, social energies as shown in the popular phrase “mass
media.” However, what we are living in today is a Black Mass that is eating us
alive daily. So I have a responsibility everyday to hold up the Catholic Mass to
our environment just as the Holy Cross is used to ward off a vampire.

Dobbs: So Christ took the simple act of sharing food, turned it into an artform,
the cliche'-to-archetype pattern, and parodied the secret cults and their magicians
for all time.

McLuhan: You got it!

This same pattern was used in Bob's, "Tiny Note Chart", where Bob uses our
cultural clichés and memes to illustrate the ground, or greater dynamics
behind our experiences, as we say, on this planet.

Link to chart - http://goo.gl/BfyL0

iON said that Bob's Tiny Note Chart was our (the human race's) representation
of the angelic realm, environments, or dynamics.

Similarly, a chart provided with the Revelations Revealed series (at Howionic.com),
provides a chart, representing the angels' perspective of human beings.

Bob explains his chart in 2008 here (3. Tiny Note (Chart Exploration)):

http://www.dobbstown.com

And updates his chart, post-iON here:

http://goo.gl/B8kgV

Another example of the fun in cliche to archetype pattern recognition is iON's
inclusion of contemporary television shows as representative of iONic subject
matter,

Cool “Fringe”, “The Event”, “FlashForward”, “Eureka”, and “Warehouse 13” all deal
with frequency, polarity, magnetism, and vector (thanks to iON’s Hollywood
intervention making the TV shows interesting for Bob again after a 40-year
drought) (iON says they require “analog”) 5:19:28

Bob also uses these same shows as representative of his Five Bodies model,

Quote:
rhyee wrote:

Michael, a best-selling author in South Africa, responds:

[[ Thank you Bob and iON. These are treasure chests of revelation. As The Word is creative, the highest form of art may well be 'the conversation'. As far as conversations go, these are the most spectacular I have ever listened in on. ]]
