I never heard of Pataphysics before...very interesting. Seems it could be an influence on Discordianism. And the COTSG seems to be a poormans version of Discordianism. Anyway the video = interesting.

I've always found tCotSG to be more interesting or more profound or more relevant whatever than Discordianism ... possibly explainable via the aptish analogy Discordianism:Taoism::SubGenius:Catholicism ... but I think the "'pataphysics" angle could shed more light on my preference, because I think tCotSG has a greater or more explicit 'pataphysical influence, at least in the sense that it is more of a systematic "science of imaginary solutions" ... on the one hand Discordianism's 'Law Of Fives' is a fine 'pataphysical probe/POV, but on the other hand the entire SubGenius project is 'pataphysical to the bone ...
... it might be more trouble than it's worth to gather my thoughts on the subject to present my preference/position properly ... suffice it to say for now that it makes perfect sense that "Bob" has his own cryptocurrency:

That's one advantage that Discordianism has over SubGenius: even if Stang's family connections to Naval Intelligence are more of a coincidence than an example of the pattern illuminated here -- http://www.davesweb.cnchost.com/nwsltr93.html -- I'm pretty sure Kerry Thornley would still have a more intriguing tale to tell!

I haven't actually watched/listened to these YouTubes, but I have ingested the same story (Confession to Conspiracy as told to Sondra London) in this textual format, which I very highly recommend: http://sondralondon.com/tales/confess/index.htm

"In April of 1976, I again had occasion to think about paranoia in relation to the John Kennedy assassination. I attended a lecture in Atlanta by none other than Jim Garrison, for whom by then I felt a lot of sympathy.
In light of what I remembered now, it seemed his suspicions of me were only slightly misplaced. I was not a field agent in the assassination; I was among those who helped plan it!
In the question period after his speech Garrison said something I found both significant and touching: "Of course, I have to lean over backwards not to be paranoid, because I have been accused of paranoia in the past."
One of his diagnosticians had been me; now I was dealing with exactly the same double bind of trying to probe conspiracies without coming on like a paranoid in the eyes of my friends.
Through an emissary I let it be known to Garrison that I wanted to meet with him. His reply: "Not only do I not want to meet with Kerry Thornley, I don't even want to hear his name. In fact, I don't even want to think about Kerry Thornley!" "

You make some fine points there.

Cool... that's the brand new one from Feral House I assume. Released at the same time as their 'The Essential Mae Brussell', which I'm reading.

It's been around for a wile. The Prankster and the Conspiracy, How Kerry Thornly met Oswald and Inspired the Counter Culture.

re Pataphysics...seems they, and the Discordianists were trying to create some kind of environment to escape the rigorous/rational/left-brained/sequential literate environment.

BOB: The "rigorous/rational/sequential literate environment is traditionally called "LEFT-BRAINED."

Keep running into Discordian stuff recently, selective attention I guess. I'm posting it here to ensure it is ignored. Wink
