Nice!
There are some flaws, of course (e.g., saying "it was around this time" rather than "three years later", when those particular years were so significant both for LSD's legality&popularity and for McLuhan's reputation&reach), but it's definitely good for Disinfo to "turn on" their audience to Leary's singular esteem for McLuhan in general and that letter in particular (drug trip as 'subplot' of mythic living and drug panic as media symptom -- lots to chew on!)...
“Drugs that accelerate the brain won’t be accepted until the population is geared to computers” is an especially astute prediction (from the conversation recounted in Flashbacks') -- it would have helped if they had made it clearer that McLuhan's ultrarelevance wasn't truly accepted by Leary until his brain was geared to computers.
Most of year ago I shared that link (the unpublished letter) in a comment to something Steamshovel Press had posted about Leary&Burroughs, along with those blistering sections of Burroughs' letters where he rants that Leary is "marked total enemy. marked Nova Guard" (since Mr. Steamshovel was personally well aware that the two were good friends later on)... Good to see that letter is continuing to make the rounds...

I wonder what both of those guys would have made of recent research suggesting that psilocybin at least does NOT "accelerate" the brain (at least not in a neurochemically perceptible sense)??

That bit makes me think about apes and the apalisk in 2001. Also makes you wonder what would be accelerated if HAL had prevailed over Bowman in the race to the Jupiter Ascended gate.
